There is no confusion whatsoever on my part! 
If you were told that you can install/run/virtualize Mac OS X on other then an Apple-branded computer you were told wrong, regardless of who at Apple told you that! 
Also using an Apple-branded computer is not the only caveat, unless otherwise noted in the SLA they also have to be run under the same version. In other words, you may not run OS X 10.8 in a VM under Mac OS X 10.7... it has to be done under 10.8. The bottom line is, one must conform to the given Apple products SLA and any discussions using it outside its use scope of the SLA in this case are not allowed in these forums.
