Reguardless of what OS the files will be executed/used under, for the last 7 years, I've done the majority of downloading of larger files in Unix and then grab them from my File Server across the LAN as needed. So maybe its just because Unix is better then the rest and gets it right to begin with! Image may be NSFW.
