There also appear to also be 2008R2 Native Client specific versions. I wondered if 2008R2 would be backward conmpatible with the 2008 Native Client.
My thought was if I could use the 2008R2 Native Client for ODBC connections to the 2008 SQL server that I could future proof any later migration to SQL 2008R2 DB servers.
